Les athl\u00e8tes doivent y penser avant une course car non seulement le jus de betterave am\u00e9liore la <\/strong><b><strong>performance musculaire<\/strong><\/b><strong> mais \u00e9galement la pression art\u00e9rielle systolique, via le processus de conversion de nitrates en NO, les m\u00eames qui favorisent la <\/strong><b><strong>congestion musculaire.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un plus pour les performances<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>D&rsquo;apr\u00e8s cette \u00e9tude, le jus de betterave am\u00e9liore le temps de 31 s sur une distance de 5 km \u00e0 condition de le boire durant les jours qui pr\u00e9c\u00e8dent la course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D&rsquo;autres \u00e9tudes ant\u00e9rieures de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Exeter (UK) ainsi que des \u00e9tudes de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Maastricht sur des cyclistes, avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que le jus de betterave augmentait l&rsquo;endurance et permettait de s&rsquo;entrainer plus longtemps (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 16% en plus).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Des sujets f\u00e9minins \u00e2g\u00e9s de 20 ans en moyenne ont re\u00e7u soit du jus de betterave, \u00e0 raison de 140 ml par jour, soit un placebo, soit aucune suppl\u00e9mentation. Les r\u00e9sultats n&rsquo;ont pas montr\u00e9 de diff\u00e9rence vraiment significative entre les groupes au niveau de la pression art\u00e9rielle, toutefois, on a not\u00e9 une tendance \u00e0 la baisse suite \u00e0 la consommation de betterave. M\u00eame si les changements sur une faible distance de 5km ont \u00e9t\u00e9 peu visibles, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 relev\u00e9 un gain de vitesse allant de 49 s \u00e0 31 s avec le jus de betterave par rapport au placebo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les nitrates contenus dans notre alimentation se convertissent en nitrites par des bact\u00e9ries situ\u00e9es dans notre bouche, ce qui favorise une s\u00e9cr\u00e9tion de salive riche en nitrites. Celle-ci aval\u00e9e et absorb\u00e9e continue son chemin dans la circulation sanguine o\u00f9 se produit la synth\u00e8se du NO (oxide nitrique).
