EAA express (400g) from the brand Scitec Nutrition is a blend of essential amino acids, ideal for muscle building, repair and recovery.
Essential amino acids are those which cannot be manufactured by the body, so must be supplied by diet or supplements. There are 8 essential amino acids (+ histidine, which is semi-essential) which, when combined, serve to rebuildall body tissues. However, each has a very important role to play.
- Lysine (1200mg per dose) is essential for hormone and energy production. It is also important for the proper functioning of the immune system, and the production of collagen and elastin.
- Histidine (400mg per dose) contributes to our body's capacity for strength and endurance. It is also involved in tissue growth and repair.
- Phenylalanine (1000mg per dose) is said to have pain-relieving and anti-depressant effects.
- Threonine (600mg per dose) plays a role in strengthening the immune system. It may also help maintain the body's protein balance.
- Methionine (400mg per dose) helps build muscle strength thanks to its sulfur components. It also has detoxifying powers for the liver and can help combat the formation of fatty deposits around the liver and arteries.
- Tryptophan (160mg per dose) has a calming and relaxing effect. It can also help reduce appetite and is involved in muscle growth.
This essential amino acid formula contains 3400mg of BCAAs (Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine), which are branched-chain amino acids. They are very popular with sportsmen and women as they contribute to improved recovery, help build muscle mass, reduce fatigue and can also improve glycogen storage.
